Director ~ Writer ~ Producer
Tell me a story.
Cedric has always loved telling stories...
Cedric Hill has won multiple honors and distinctions as a writer, director, and producer of both film and theatre. In 2005, he founded To & Fro Productions, a film company dedicated to telling gripping stories with depth and sophistication. As executive producer he wears many hats from developing scripts, creating budgets and casting to writing, engineering production strategy and directing. Throughout its 15 years, Cedric has led the company to build a substantial resume of award-winning feature films, shorts and touring theatre.
The exacting art of telling excellent stories has been a driving force for Cedric throughout his career. These endeavors have been showcased at festivals domestically and abroad while garnering national media attention. Projects of note include: Lunatics Lovers & Actors (producer, co-director), Homeland (line producer), Jimmy and the Double Barrel (producer), I Do (writer), Outwordly Fabulous (producer, director), Passing (producer, director), Shades of War (producer, director) and Acceptable Losses (writer, producer, director). As a freelancer, Mr. Hill, a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers, has served as producer and/or director for a number of projects creating PSAs, commercials, training videos and short films.
Over the years, Cedric has worked with luminaries such as Maggie Reed, Marcia Gay Harden, and Sutton Foster and has worked at major venues such as the Public Theatre, NJPAC, the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre (West Side Y), among many others.
Currently, Cedric is working on several projects. “The Call May Be Recorded,” which is a story about a man whose life is destroyed by a debt collection agency is in pre-pre-production. And his newest project, “Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever,” which is about the willing segregation of black from white in the not-so-distant United States. This project, which is also in pre-pre-production has already garnered many distinctions as a finalist in several festivals.
“I never ask more of anyone working on a project that I am willing to give.” Cedric has worked with all levels of talent from Oscar and Tony winners to children in their first production. "From a staged reading in a small black theater to a big blockbuster, it still comes down to telling a good story."
